Definitions

Store / Platform / Markato / Markato Online / Website: Refers to Markato Online and all its services.
Customer: A person who purchases products through the platform.
Seller: An individual or company that lists and sells products on the platform.
Affiliate Marketer: A person who promotes products via tracking links and earns commissions on completed sales.
Products: All goods and services available for purchase through the platform

Use of the Platform

• Users must be 18 years or older, or under the supervision of a guardian.
• The platform must be used only for lawful purposes.
• The platform reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or misuse the platform.

Accounts & Registration

• Customers, sellers, and affiliates must provide accurate and truthful information during registration.
• Account holders are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.
• The platform reserves the right to suspend or cancel accounts found to contain false or misleading information.

Orders & Payment

• Once an order is placed, the customer is required to pay the full amount using the available payment methods.
• Prices may change due to promotions or updates, with the final price confirmed at checkout.
• Imported products via dropshipping are considered special orders and cannot be returned unless the item arrives damaged or significantly different from the description.
• Imported products that are locally stocked by sellers in Ethiopia are treated as local products and follow the standard return and exchange policy

Return & Exchange Policy

• A return or exchange request can be made within 24 hours of receiving the product, in accordance with the conditions stated in the Return & Exchange Policy page.
• Customers bear shipping costs for returns due to personal preference. If the product is defective or not as described, the seller or the platform covers shipping costs.
• Certain products, such as health or personal care items, are non-returnable and will be clearly indicated on the product page

Delivery & Shipping

• Products are delivered in accordance with the published shipping and delivery policy.
• The platform is not liable for delays caused by external factors such as flight issues, customs clearance, or force majeure events

Privacy Policy

• Customer data is collected and used according to the platform’s Privacy Policy.
• Your data is used to improve the shopping experience, communicate about orders, provide promotions, and protect the rights of the platform and customers.
• Data will only be shared with authorized third parties, such as logistics, payment providers, or legally required authorities.

Seller Terms & Conditions

• Sellers must list only new, unused products with accurate descriptions, clear images, and truthful information.
• The platform reserves the right to review or reject any product that does not comply with its policies or local laws.
• A commission of 10% to 15% is deducted from each transaction automatically before earnings are released.
• Sellers must fulfill and hand over orders to authorized shipping partners on time.
• Repeated customer complaints or selling prohibited products may result in permanent account suspension.
• Sellers are responsible for complying with all tax and customs regulations in Ethiopia and any other applicable jurisdictions. The platform assumes no liability for sellers’ tax obligations.

Affiliate Marketing Program

• Eligibility: Any qualified individual can apply to join. The platform reserves the right to accept or reject applications.
• How it works: Affiliates receive unique tracking links or codes. Commissions are calculated only on completed and paid orders.
• Commission rates: Affiliates earn between 3% – 7% of the product value (not from platform profit).
• Commission payout: Commissions are released only after the sale is successfully completed, the customer has received the order, and 7 days have passed without return or cancellation.
• Permitted & prohibited marketing: Affiliates may promote legally and ethically. Misleading ads or unauthorized use of the brand are prohibited.
• Termination: The platform reserves the right to terminate any affiliate account that violates the terms, with commissions related to violations withheld.

Platform Liability

• The platform acts as an intermediary between sellers and customers and does not bear direct responsibility for product quality, except as required by law.
• Product descriptions and compliance are solely the responsibility of the seller. If a seller fails to specify their own sales terms when listing a product, the platform’s terms automatically apply.
• The platform facilitates communication and dispute resolution fairly between parties.

Intellectual Property

• All logos, trademarks, content, and designs of Markato Online are the property of the platform.
• No content may be used without prior written permission from the administration.

Modifications

• The platform reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Updates will be published on the website.
• Continued use of the platform after amendments indicates acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

• These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the platform operates.
• Disputes should first be attempted to be resolved amicably. If unresolved, they will be referred to the competent courts.
